Honda Zero series EVs to launch in 2026 with Level 3 autonomy

In 2026, Honda is set to launch its groundbreaking 0 Series electric vehicles (EVs), introducing advanced Level 3 autonomous driving capabilities. This initiative marks a significant leap in Honda’s commitment to innovation, blending cutting-edge technology with sustainable mobility solutions.

Introducing the Honda 0 Series

The Honda 0 Series comprises two flagship models: the Honda 0 Saloon and the Honda 0 SUV. Unveiled at CES 2025, these vehicles embody Honda’s “Thin, Light, and Wise” design philosophy, emphasizing streamlined aerodynamics, reduced weight, and intelligent systems integration.

Level 3 Autonomy: A New Driving Experience

Level 3 autonomous driving allows vehicles to handle all aspects of driving under specific conditions, enabling drivers to disengage from active control temporarily. Honda’s implementation focuses initially on low-speed highway scenarios, such as traffic jams, with plans to expand functionality through over-the-air updates. This advancement aims to enhance safety and convenience, reflecting Honda’s vision for the future of mobility.

ASIMO OS: The Brain Behind the Wheel

Central to the 0 Series is the ASIMO OS, Honda’s proprietary operating system named after its renowned humanoid robot. This system manages a range of functions, from autonomous driving to infotainment, ensuring seamless operation and personalized user experiences. The integration of ASIMO OS signifies Honda’s transition into software-defined vehicles, offering adaptability and continuous improvement.

Performance and Efficiency

Built on a dedicated EV platform, the 0 Series vehicles boast impressive performance metrics. Equipped with a 400-volt architecture, they support rapid charging, achieving 15% to 80% battery capacity in approximately 10 to 15 minutes. The anticipated range exceeds 300 miles per charge, catering to both daily commutes and longer journeys.

Sustainable Energy Integration

Beyond mobility, the 0 Series contributes to energy sustainability. These vehicles are designed to interact with the power grid, allowing owners to store energy during off-peak hours and supply it back during peak demand. This bidirectional energy flow positions the 0 Series as a component in broader energy management systems, promoting environmental responsibility.

Global Production and Availability

Honda plans to commence production of the 0 Series at its EV Hub in Ohio, with the North American market receiving the first models in 2026. Subsequent releases are scheduled for Japan and Europe, aligning with Honda’s global electrification strategy.

The forthcoming Honda 0 Series represents a fusion of innovation, performance, and sustainability. By introducing Level 3 autonomy and integrating advanced software systems, Honda is redefining the driving experience and setting new standards in the EV market. As these vehicles become available, they are poised to make a significant impact on the future of transportation.
